On Nov. 18, a man driving a stolen car ran the red light at a major intersection in Colorado Springs, causing a four-vehicle crash, according to authorities. Three people were injured in the collision. Police say the driver of the stolen car was driving under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. The man was taken into custody and held on $10,000 bond on a range of charges, including vehicular assault and DUI.
A Colorado company has taken action to help prevent the mortal practice of texting while driving. A former chemical engineer initiated development of an anti-texting technology, in the form of a device, in 2008, after an executive with whom he planned to meet was killed by a distracted driver. According to the engineer, the at-fault driver in that incident was texting and driving at the same time.
