Colorado head-on collision kills 1

One person was killed and two more injured in a head-on collision near Penrose in Southern Colorado on Feb. 24. One of the vehicles involved in the crash ended up in flames after the collision.

Some statistics about motorcycle accidents

Motorcyclists in Colorado might be interested in learning more about some facts and statistics related to motorcycle accidents. State law only require motorcycle riders and passengers aged 17 and younger to wear helmets while in transit. Most states have similar laws, but several have helmet laws that apply to everyone. Only three states have no laws in place that mandate helmet use while riding a motorcycle.

Man in stolen car causes wreck; charged with DUI

On Nov. 18, a man driving a stolen car ran the red light at a major intersection in Colorado Springs, causing a four-vehicle crash, according to authorities. Three people were injured in the collision. Police say the driver of the stolen car was driving under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. The man was taken into custody and held on $10,000 bond on a range of charges, including vehicular assault and DUI.

Preventing texting while driving can save lives

A Colorado company has taken action to help prevent the mortal practice of texting while driving. A former chemical engineer initiated development of an anti-texting technology, in the form of a device, in 2008, after an executive with whom he planned to meet was killed by a distracted driver. According to the engineer, the at-fault driver in that incident was texting and driving at the same time.

More than 25 percent of Denver car accidents involve hit-and-runs

Being the victim of a car accident is a traumatic and scary event. Injuries suffered in car accidents can range from bruises and soreness to traumatic brain injuries and fatal internal injuries. Most Colorado drivers know what they are supposed to do in the wake of an accident and understand that it's critical to stop to make sure everyone involved is alright and to exchange insurance information and call the police. Despite this knowledge, however, a recent investigation by 9NEWS and I-News shows that annually there are an alarming number of hit-and-run accidents in the city of Denver as well as throughout Colorado.
