A fatal two-car motor vehicle accident on the night of March 6 in central Aurora left one man dead and another with minor injuries. Investigators believe that alcohol may have played a significant role in causing the deadly crash.
According to information released by the Aurora Police Department, the suspected drunk driving accident occurred at the intersection of South Blackhawk Street and East Iliff Avenue. Aurora police say that just before the collision, a man driving a Subaru was traveling northbound along South Blackhawk Street and attempting to turn left at the traffic light to go westbound on East Iliff Avenue. As he was making the turn, a second man driving a Chevy Silverado pickup truck southbound along South Blackhawk Street ran a red light and crashed into the side of the Subaru.
The driver of the Subaru vehicle reportedly suffered mortal injuries as a result of the T-bone collision and was transported to an area hospital where he died. The driver of the Silverado pickup truck was not seriously injured in the crash, according to police.
