Vehicle crossing into oncoming traffic injures 4

A two-car crash in Colorado ended in injury to four individuals after a sedan crossed into oncoming traffic, striking an SUV on Colo. 60 on Nov. 13. According to police, the accident investigation was ongoing at the time of the report.

The accident allegedly happened when the sedan driver, who was traveling west, crossed into the eastbound lane, striking the SUV head-on. According to police, the sedan then spun out of control and entered the Little Thompson River. The driver and two minor passengers were pulled from the water by two tow trucks.

Police said both drivers and the two passengers in the sedan were transported to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. No additional information concerning the conditions of the injured individuals was available at the time.

When a motorist crosses into oncoming traffic, as in this case, he or she violates the rules of the road, and this violation may be the focus of a personal liability suit to recover financial loss associated with the accident. A negligent driver might argue that weather or roadway conditions partially caused the accident, but factors such as speed and being alert for changing roadway conditions are a driver’s duty.

An attorney may advise individuals involved in motor vehicle accidents about legal options available after reviewing accident details and police reports. The attorney may also help show that the accident would not have happened if not for the negligent act. If a personal injury claim is successful, victims may be able to reclaim compensation for hospital bills, property damage, pain and suffering, and more.
