A 57-year-old motorcyclist was killed recently in an accident involving an SUV, according to authorities. The August 15 incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Highway 62 near Ridgway.
The Colorado Highway Patrol reported that the 57-year-old man, a resident of Lincoln, Nebraska, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the highway when the SUV crashed into him. Immediately prior to the collision, the driver of the SUV, a 25-year-old Montrose man, had lost control of his vehicle after veering off the road. The 25-year-old driver purportedly overcorrected, which caused the SUV to flip onto its side and slide into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.
Officials declared the 57-year-old motorcyclist dead at the scene of the crash. Furthermore, officials do not suspect that alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident. According to authorities, the event remains under investigation.
Hypothetically, there are various mortal factors that may contribute to a motor vehicle accident. These include but are not limited to distracted driving, speeding, perilous weather conditions and poorly maintained roadways.
If in this particular case driver negligence was responsible for the crash, then the family of the 57-year-old man who died may wish to retain a personal injury attorney and file a wrongful death claim.
