Colorado motorcyclist dies in accident

A motorcycle accident in Aurora resulted in the death of one man on July 21. Police who investigated the accident said that they ruled out alcohol and excessive speed as contributing factors. They did not discuss whether the driver would be charged or cited in connection to the wreck.

The accident occurred at about 6:45 p.m. The motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Mississippi Avenue near Peoria Street. An eastbound car attempted to make a left-hand turn into a shopping center when it pulled into the path of the motorcycle. Investigators believed that the biker was traveling at about 40 mph when it broadsided the car.

Doctors pronounced the man dead after he was transported to an area hospital, and sources did not indicate if the driver was also injured. Police closed a stretch of westbound Mississippi Avenue for an investigation of the accident. They said that the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Thousands of families lose loved ones each year as a result of motorcycle crashes. The pain of mourning a spouse, parent or child may be intensified by the financial struggle that could accompany a sudden death; burial costs, medical bills and other unexpected expenses may cause financial hardships. If police determine negligent behavior contributed to an accident, it might provide support to a wrongful death claim should surviving family members choose to take legal action against the driver. A personal injury attorney may be able to advise a family through the legal process of collecting relevant evidence and filing the appropriate documents.
