Practice AreasLITIGATION AND TRIALSThe firm's identity flows primarily from the work it does in the area of litigation and, ultimately, trials. The two senior partners, William R. Gray and John A. Purvis, are listed in The Best Lawyers in America. The firm has represented clients in litigation and trial in the following areas, both in State and Federal Court:
The following are examples of our approach in some selected examples from that list. MEDIATION AND NEGOTIATIONOur firm is often called upon to assist our clients with voluntary or court-ordered Alternate Dispute Resolution, or "ADR," which generally means that resolution of a dispute is sought through means other than a full-blown litigation and/or trial. The three common forms of ADR are arbitration, mediation and negotiation, and the firm has extensive experience in all these areas. Often, the success of ADR is directly linked to the reputation of our firm for aggressive, high quality litigation and trial. That is, negotiating from a position of confidence and strength with the leverage that if a settlement is not reached the firm is ready, willing and able to go to trial. A high percentage of our cases are successfully settled through negotiation and/or mediation. APPEALSPerhaps as a direct consequence of our robust litigation and trial practice, our firm has substantial experience in handling appellate matters in the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Colorado Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals - 10th Circuit. The cases mentioned in our Practice Makeup section reflect some of the appellate matters the firm has handled. |
