• U. S. News and World Report
  In the October, 2010 US News and World Report "Best Lawyers" edition Purvis Gray was named in two categories as a national "Tier One" law firm. Purvis Gray is the only Colorado based law firm listed in the "Mass Torts" category and one of four Colorado based firms included in the "Product Liability" category. The Denver Post’s Penny Parker reported that in her column on October 5, 2010, saying, Boulder law firm Purvis Gray may be small, but it’s mighty. ..The firm garnered a powerhouse ranking among best law firms recently released by "U.S. News and World Report".


• "Lawyers of the Year"
  In October, 2010 for the first time "Best Lawyers in America" named "Lawyers of the Year" in certain metropolitan areas around the country. Bill Gray has been named the metro Denver "2011 Lawyer of the Year" in personal injury litigation, and John Purvis has been designated the metro Denver "2011 Lawyer of the Year" in mass torts litigation.


• Courageous Advocacy   
  The American College of Trial Lawyers presented Bill Gray with its Award for Courageous Advocacy - probably the loftiest recognition a trial lawyer can receive. When presented to Bill, this award had been bestowed on only four other occasions in the almost forty-year history of the College. One prior recipient was Leon Jaworski, who received the award for his role as the Watergate special prosecutor. Bill Gray was presented the award for his contribution to the cause of justice as the court-appointed defense counsel in the Michael Manning murder case, People v. Daniel Arevelo.


• Distinguished Achievement
  In 1997 John Purvis received the Distinguished Achievement/Small Firm Practitioner award from the University of Colorado Alumni Association. Long before that, he was chosen by the Colorado Supreme Court to undertake reorganization of the Colorado Public Defender system, and, in the same year the Colorado Bar Association presented John with the Outstanding Young Lawyer award.
